About SCSD

SCSD was formed in 2018 by a coalition of Saskatchewan activists, primarily with backgrounds in science, who examine policy alternatives and advocate for mitigation of anthropogenic climate change.

​SCSD recognizes that the science of climate change is evident; and that Saskatchewan must embark on a path of low carbon economic growth.  SCSD exists to question the morality of political leadership that is deliberately and knowingly imposing the extreme costs of climate change on future generations.

Viable pathways to a sustainable future do exist.  Good management brings change without upset.  SCSD knows there is a closing window of opportunity to transition to a thriving low carbon economy in a manageable manner. The longer we delay or avoid embracing a clean energy economy, the more disruptive the inevitable change will be.  Applying a fraction of the future cost of climate change damage to progressively decarbonizing our economy over the next few decades is not only ethical but an exercise in common sense economics.
