Amy, an artist, mother, and co-founder of EcoStress Sask, cares deeply about our environment and enjoys spending time in nature with her family.
After falling ill with severe depression and anxiety following the summer of 2021, Amy recognized that there was a need for community support for people suffering from distress caused by ecological collapse. This prompted her to co-found EcoStress Sask, a province-wide organization which provides support for people with eco-anxiety. You can hear Amy’s interview on the radio program From the Ground Up - episode #308 at https://shows.acast.com/636073121217ef0012e36938. You can also read about the work that EcoStress Sask does here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/climate-anxiety-support-group-1.6877640 Amy also expresses her concerns for the environment in her writing and fine art practice. She creates sculptural works and installations using clay she digs up in Regina. Her artwork conveys the beauty and fragility of our natural environment. Amy is working on an MFA in visual art and will have an exhibition in late August 2024 at the Fifth Parallel Gallery, University of Regina. You can see her work at amysnider.ca. |
